@ Keith

Actually, it was founded by people who didn't like taxation without representation.

While I don't have any love for a "mandatory" service program, I definitely think that we would be better off if we gave of ourselves as youths. Not because I think that it would people who worship "the government God," as you put it, but because it has been proven over and over that people feel more responsibility for and inclusion in groups that they have sacrificed something for. Do not confuse government with country, my friend. Or are you suggesting that you don't think that Americans could use feeling a little more included in their society?

Obama and Emanuel can go f-- themselves. That's just what he need, more government indoctrination of our kids. All we have heard for most of the last eight years was how the "neo-cons" were fascists and we end up with ideas liike this, and think this is any different? No way my kids are doing any of this non-sense, even if it's voluntary. So you might ask, why would you oppose this if you get a tax credit for it? Why? 1. It is a tax, pure and simple. Someone has to pay for the damned program. 2. This will not cause anyone to become "patriotic." This will create "good little government servants" who will worship the government God. I know I run the risk of sounding paranoid but does this not sound like the beginning of the Hitler Youth? We hear about this crap, and rhetoric all too ofetn about doing things "for the common good" and paying higher taxes is "patriotic." (Joe Biden si a f-ng genius. Guess he forgot that the damned nation was founded by people who didn't like taxes. Moron) This is scary stuff.

"If you think of yourselves as helpless and ineffectual, it is certain that you will create a despotic government to be your master. The wise despot, therefore, maintains among his subjects a popular sense that they are helpless and ineffectual."
