for the fast-forward record

The Vanity Fair expose killing on Bush Administration incompetence is busting out beyond the usual VF readership of 300 ziillion because it kills using the words of the very neocon theorists who engineered the insane “liberation” of Iraq. David Rose, who interviewed the neocons, told his interviewees that the piece was slotted to run in the January issue, which would appear long after the midterm elections had come and gone. But Graydon Carter and the rest of the magazine editors weren’t totally high on crack and Prada when this shit came in and so rushed it to print before the elections.

The neocons now say that everything they told the magazine was true, of course, that they meant every word, but only on condition that what they said— about the bungling missteps and corruption and foggy headed inexperience of Bush and his Congressional acolytes— wouldn’t actually have any effect on any of the horrors they were talking about! Now that’s philosophical integrity. Now that’s commitment to the system!
