If you haven’t seen it yet, check out Hometown Baghdad, a serial documentary on the web that follows three twentysomethings as they go through their everydays in the capital city of post-liberation madness. Dude wakes up and suddenly eating mixed salad is declared a breech of Islamic law. Another can’t get his diploma in dentistry after years of study because the government is afraid he’ll leave the country. Third gets to campus and discovers classmate’s spilled brains covered over with a weird tile-circle structure because apparently brain-stains won’t come off campus pavement. Even the few photos from the series at the website somehow bang your eyes with the unfamiliar real. Shouts—hey!—to the videodogs at Salon for hosting and promoting the series.
