The International Herald Tribune/New York Times‘ Adam Nagourney spend 829 words wondering, “Why is Obama not improving in the polls?” He points out the disconnect between the adoring crowds with hundreds of thousands of people and the minimal spread.
All sorts of reasons were given.
Class, what do you think?
—No one heard of him six months ago.
(I know, I know, call me!)
—He’s got a weird narrative.
(Ask me!)
—McCain’s been around longer.
(Mr. Nagourney, over here!)
It’s race, stupid.
The only time the word, “race,” appears in the article, it’s in the context of the contest. As in, “in the race for the White House.”
Seriously? The reason Obama isn’t flying to the finish line with a 20-point spread is because Americans are more racist than we like to admit. 829 words. Grade F for Nagourney.

So his politics aren’t part of the equation? His friendship and amiration for people who freely express their hatred of America is irrelevant? I guess his lack of experience is also to be shrugged off. Please don’t tar the overwhelmingly fair minded public with your own bigot brush.
Sure those have something to do with it but i believe the underlying problem is that a huge swath of the American public is pretty racist at the core–if not racist, just plain ignorant (see: Obama is a really a Muslim, ect). I don’t think I am being bigoted by saying that. I have family members who will definitely not vote for him simply because he is black, which is completely retarded.
