Bristol actually seems pretty regular I could see people interacting with someone named Bristol. But Track... Trig that doesnt even make sense. If they are smart they will get name changes because school will be hard enough but carrying that over to the workplace will be death.

I totally wonder the same thing myself. Very strange names, and a whole family of them.

Anyway, here's hoping Obama's kids, Malia Ann and Natashia (Sasha) are going to be the next Caroline and John, Jr! (So Malia is kinda unique. But it sounds more like a female name at least.)

About all these Alaska names, to me, it just seems like Alaska is her first love and her passion. When she was gov. she spent most of her time at her home in Wacilla rather than in Juneau at her office. I mean, that makes her a good mother, but kind of irresponsible as governmor. Reminds me a little too much of Bush. Remember Michael Moore riding him for all the vacation time he took? This is not good. If her heart and soul is in Alaska, how will she fare and be able to devote herself fully to her career in DC? So, she is a Washington outsider, but... can she make the transition? I myself, am not confident. In fact, kind of terrified at the prospect.

As a matter of fact, here children are being remembered and discussed on this site due to their unusual name. I don't even know the name of McCain's children (or Obama's). And if they had 5 children, I sure would not know all their names..... but I do remember Palin's children's name. If you ask me, she just gave her children an edge - win or lose this election I will remember that Track Palin, Bristol Palin, Willow Palin, Trig Palin, and Piper Palin were the children of the woman who ran for VP of the US. (I may forget her actual name though.......)

Trig is Norse for "true" and "strength"
Bristol is a family fishing spot that is special "bristol bay"
Track - family of runners
Willow and Piper are both places in Alaska that are probably special

What is wrong with using special moments or places as names? Her children will have an edge because their name makes them stand out and be remembered. I have an odd name and appreciate the fact that when others fade into the crowd, most people remember me. It has come in very useful and helped me in life.

Phyllys: Your first two statements are incorrect, because the USA wasn't "founded" on a "separation of church and state." The words separation and church don't appear in the Constitution.

What you appear to be incorrectly referencing is Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists on 1/1/1802. He uses the "separation of church and state" to show that the government won't meddle with the church because the powers of government reach actions but not opinions, such as a person's faith.

This document is NOT part of the Constitution; neither it nor the Constitution prohibits Christians from engaging in politics or prevents the government from acknowledging God in its affairs. The only prohibitions regarding faith, in the First Amendment, are that Congress shall make no laws respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. As long as Congress doesn't establish an official Church of the United States, outlaw a faith, or dictate how a faith should be practiced, for example, the government can acknowledge God as much as it chooses. Even the Constitution is dated "...in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven...". So, Phyllys, according to your reasoning, even the Constitution itself would be unconstitutional! The "separation of church and state" argument holds no water and I must speak up.

Is it true that a Christian Heritage Day was established by Gov. Palin for Alaska, when this country was founded on principles based on the separation of church and state?

I suppose that anyone who would name children Trig and Track would not hesitate to argue with the opinions of our founding fathers.

She is reminiscent of Erin Brockovich, forging ahead with a briefcase in one hand and a baby in the other. Hopefully, she can do whatever job she is destined for with wisdom and dignity. For many of us, she is fighting a losing battle.

These are the kind of "names" that happen when white trash tries to act sophisticated and upper-class. It just doesn't work. These people sat around thinking of names that work very well on dogs. I wouldn't name a dog any of those, though, and Trig reminds me of math class or of the horse, Trigger. I bet Track is glad he wasn't born during football season.

I like the names. I've always liked unique names. Her policies on the other hand...

To the person who said she would have been "obviously pregnant" think again. Her STAFF didn't even know she was pregnant when she announced it at 7 MONTHS ALONG! Nobody knew. It was obvious to zero people.

HOW MANY OF OBAMA'S CONSTITUENTS ARE SINGLE MOMS?
You know the Obama speeches about how fathers
need to be responsible and not abandon their
children's mothers. What hypocracy for Obama's
attack dogs to now smear Palin's family for their
daughters pregnancy.DAILY KOS ARE SCUM BAGS !!!
All you small minded people who are crucifying Governor Palin over the question of her fifth child, are just fueling a vicious smear campaign. Besides, if you want to exhibit your holier-than-thou attitude ... why don't you get even more angry at Obama, Michelle, and their children, for spending 20 years in an anti-American racist church, as well as associations with Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers, Rezko, etc.. These facts are much more relevant to the next administration, than the possibility of a loving mother taking the heat to protect her child and grandchild.

hj Says:

August 29th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Why is it that when Sarah Palin is asked about her children on 2/24/08 her reply is 4 children with no mention of her 5th, is this the action of a prolifer?
or do I have my math really confused?

Are you some kind of moron??? Her 5th baby was born AFTER 2/24/08. So, at that point, she was right to say that she had 4 kids. Since at that point she was obviously very pregnant, she wouldn't need to say "Oh, by the way, I'm pregnant with my 5th child."

Obviously the person who claims that Sarah Palin only mentioned 4 of her 5 kids didn't listen to her speech. She clearly told the audience that her oldest child wasn't there BECAUSE he is serving our country in the ARMY!
