Oh, get a life, Ann. ALL republicans are not cut from the same cloth. It's so easy to sit back and wag your f'ing tongue and point your fingers, isn't it? You couldn't do the job half as well as any of the candidates - from either party. How laughable. I suppose you support Mr. "I went to that church for umpteen years and had no idea my preacher was a racist whacktard!" Yeah, right. Hypocritical, much? As for Obama's color, I could give a rat's ass if he was purple. I've been hoping for years that Colin Powell would run, because we'd all vote for him not matter what party he was in, and it sure as hell isn't because he's black, white, or any other color. You're a complete idiot if you think all republicans don't care when someone in power displays ridiculous judgement, or lack of morals. If a candidate was worthy, I'd vote for them - regardless. Party affiliation is bullshite, especially because of idiotic assumptions like yours. Now go ahead and make some BS comments about my mentioning Colin Powell, because I know you're dying to. God forbid you actually take a comment at face value, instead of trying to find a hidden meaning.

Anyone who does not realize that the Republicans & FOX News are completely hypocritical on this issue can see it with their own eyes on YouTube. There's video of FOX News condemning Spears, and then later, praising Palin.

As long as it's a Right Wing Republican who's being loose & immoral - it's fine. Anyone else & FOX labels them as evil, horrible, etc.

Actually, Jamie Spears' mother is pretty angry about the hypocrisy - I would be too. In fact, we should all be.

Gov. Palin says there should be not abortion, even in incest, but she cuts funding for teenage girls who have to run away from home due to incest! Palin is beneath contempt.

Joseph, I DID SAY Obama's mom got married. Hence, "Like Bristol, decided upon marriage after learning of her pregnancy" In most English dictionaries, "like" means similar to, or in the same manner as. Besides, Getting pregnant out of wedlock means that two people had sex and conceived out of wedlock. So regardless of whether one gets married ANY time DURING the pregnancy, that child is still CONCEIVED out of wedlock--there's no way around that. So I repeat, why is it okay for some and not for others?
Secondly, when I mentioned "They" I was referring to politicians, not "[back] folks". And I did so based on hdot's question to Clarice's statement. Hence, using "aforementioned" before quoting someone's already use of "they". So maybe you should READ the whole paragraph carefully before you start taking things out of context and making accusations of someone's ethics. I mean, honestly! Do you think I would sit there in one sentence and berate the fact that Barrett is turning a non racial issue INTO one and then turn around and make racially unethical comments?
And in reference to my saying, "calling a spade a spade", the euphemism is widely used to replace certain quotes like, "if the shoe fits, wear it" and "if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck... it must be a duck". What I meant by it was just this... Hypotheticals are useless in politics. You can't "What If" this country to death! Sometimes you just have to deal with the way things are, whether you like them or not. Therefore, in my defense, I DID think about what I said, thank you.
I daresay you should work on your reading-comprehension and pay attention to the tone of writing, not just pick and choose things about the writing that you don't like.
And I'll admit, no I didn't watch all of the convention. But in turn, consider the source when you say Bristol was canonized. I'm sure my mother would support me too if people were bullying me. And so would her (my mother's) close friends, if anything out of respect. But for those of us who didn't hear any Bristol News in the Republican Convention, it was more than made up for in daily news as to how others felt about her situation. And as I said, I (and if I stress "I".)didn't hear anything along the lines of the quote from Barrett's article.
And before THIS is taken out of context, I'm not calling anyone a liar, I'm simply stating MY opinion based on the information that I've been given.

AnotherWatcher check your white narcissism st the door, fool. 20% of white births are out of wedlock. Considering whites are 67% of the population there more white baby mama's than African Americans in this country.
ALSO no one wants an abortion, it is a woman's choice to carry a child to term. Democrats do not go around forcing people into clinics, you baffoon. Men can can't carry a child and have to option to walk away. A more white men than black men do just that.

MRLHM Obama's mother got married. Did you watch the Republican convention???? Bristol was practically canonized. Could you think before you use the expression "call a spade a spade" or "they" when you post about back folks?

I, since the news of Palin's daughter being pregnant came out, have not heard one positive word of her situation. And to imply that it has been stated that Bristol was "a courageous young woman with strong family values" is just poor journalism. The only thing I've heard from both sides (republican/democrat) is, and I'm paraphrasing here, (D)"It is shameful that Palin's 17 year old daughter would put herself in such a situation. And what does that say of Palin's home values? We thought she was supposed to be platforming teenage abstinence?" And (R)"People make 'mistakes' and the media and the other candidates have no right to delve into Palin's personal life..." And although each party has their own points, and some points are right in their own respect, I honestly think that this whole article is just an excuse to make a non-racial issue into a racial argument.
The fact is, Palin's family ISN'T black, Obama's daughter ISN'T old enough to get pregnant, and sometimes you just have to call a spade a spade.
And I think the point that Clarice was trying to make was that Obama's mother WAS a teenage, white woman that got pregnant out of wedlock, (and like Bristol, decided upon marriage AFTER learning of her pregnancy) so it's okay for some but not for others?

Don't some people have anything better to do than to spread rumors and start political wars all day? That's what's wrong with this country! The aforementioned "they" want this country split into two opposite sides with two opposite views. As John Dickinson said, "United we stand. Divided we fall". When America falls due to their inability to agree on anything, then America can be overpowered by one...and it might not be the one we choose, for democracy will cease to exist, and that's when this country will cease to exist as we know it.

BTW: my references on my information are: Fox News, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, Wikipedia.com and COMMON SENSE!

I'm not a social conservative, however I do not feel that abortion should be used as birth control. I also do not feel that there should be any public funding for abortions. Abortions should be funded by private and personal funds.

Abortion is a means of ending a pregnancy. Roe vs. Wade is actually a very bad piece of law for both sides of the debate. Even if abortion is allowed at the national level, there should be reasonable restrictions to access to abortions.

Partial birth abortions are quite plainly wrong. Abortions in the third trimester are ill advised and it is very difficult to argue the position that the fetus is not a life.

Just where the line is drawn should be outside of politics and placed in the medical and medical ethics arenas. This actually is a good argument for the decision to be made on the state level instead of the federal level.

The other item that is not discussed much regarding abortion is the fact that it takes both sexes to conceive. When two people decide to engage in sexual activity that can potentially create a pregnancy, they are entering in a social contract with each other.

This includes care for the child if born, and should also include a voice in the decision regarding abortion. Again, abortion is not a means of birth control. Both parties have the responsibilities to take the necessary measures to prevent a pregnancy if they are not willing to take on the responsibilities of rearing a child.

The abortion debate is far too often boiled down to two distinct groups. Pro-Abortion/Pro-Choice and Anti-Abortion/Pro-Life. The issues are far more diverse and far more complex than the way it has been depicted. I do not find a home with either camp.

I believe that a person can have personal views on an issue, without having the desire to create a law that everyone else must abide to. On the same token, I feel that I should not be compelled to pay for the irresponsibility of others.

AnotherWatcher, you're just another ignorant crackpot who doesn't do their research. it doesn't help your cause by taking that so-called "punish her with a baby" statement out of context.

in addition, name the source for your statistics.

the internet is full of people with their convenient faux statistics.

I think you on the left are missing the BIG picture on out of wedlock motherhood. I do believe Palin's daughter is getting married to the father. Where as a FULL 75% of ALL black babies are born out of wedlock and MANY of those DO NOT KNOW WHICH OF THEIR MOTHER'S "MEN" ARE THEIR FATHERS. Hell, the mothers don't know who the father of their babies are much of the time. That is the difference. Surveys show most blacks in prison were raised WITHOUT A FATHER FIGURE in their lives, much less know who he is.

If Obama's daughter got pregnant, Obama would NEVER want to "punish her with a baby" and would demand she just have that piece of fleshy matter removed from her womb. No problem, no punishment!

Amen. No way that evangelicals would applaud Malia's courage in continuing her pregnancy -- they would rail about how her pregnancy proved her family had no moral code. Heck, if the candidate in question were white BUT Democrat, it would be the same thing. The right's reaction to a scandal is defined by the political affiliation of the person effected.
