Music News: Jack’s Mannequin Tour Dates Announced

Piano rock band Jack’s Mannequin will be headlining a tour for their upcoming sophomore album, The Glass Passenger starting in October.

The tour, dubbed “Hammers and Strings: An Evening with Jack’s Mannequin and the Glass Passenger,” will feature an intimate setting with the band, not to mention a performance of the whole set of Glass Passenger.

The tour will also feature Eric Hutchinson, Fun, and Treaty of Paris on select dates.

Andrew McMahon, who also fronts the band Something Corporate, was diagnosed with leukemia during the 2005 release of debut album Everything In Transit. For the following months, McMahon underwent several stages of chemotherapy and suffered an almost lethal stage of pneumonia. The singer-songwriter was able to fully recover after receiving a stem-cell transplant from his sister.

McMahon has since completed a tour with pop-punk band Paramore and has also founded a non-profit charity, The Dear Jack Foundation, dedicated to cancer research.

An exclusive single “Annie Use Your Telescope” is available on iTunes and can be heard on their Myspace. The full-length album is scheduled to be released September 30.
