Accusations of Gallo misconduct in both representation of his version of HIV virus and its causal role in AIDS in the 80's still seethe despite the smokescreen of near trillion dollar industry resulting from the potential misrepresenation or at best lack of proof of cause. Even winner Montagnier has hedged on the idea that what is being described as HIV is sole cause of AIDS. Now comes the even more ignoble mainstream European media (Swedish PR; Die Zeit) discussion that goes beyond scientific favoritism to the potential conflict of interest involving filthy lucre, both mismanagement and losses to the Noble endowment, but also big pharma entities that stand to benefit from the Noble prize theme of 2008.
