Music News You Can Use: Guys Owned This Week’s Tidbits

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

The Beastie Boys want you to “Get Out and Vote!” The longtime rap trio is headlining a political tour and has added dates to the six swing states. Other headliners include Sheryl Crow, and Tenacious D. Think they can swing the vote? Check out the dates and ticket info here.

Kanye West is so politically incorrect. The rapper has posted a blog about his latest single “Heartless,” which includes a download of the unmastered version, and a very, um, racy collection of photos from the music video shoot. I’m decisively meh about the robotish song, but speechless on the vid. Oh, and by the way, vocoders suck.

The dudes from Franz Ferdinand are back! They have finally released the title and track listing of their third studio album, scheduled to be released January 27. Tracks for the album, titled Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, will be showcased on their upcoming Australian tour. For more info, check here.

Radiohead reveals stats from In Rainbows. About one year after releasing their latest album as a digital “pay what you want” download, Radiohead has finally dropped some numbers on how successful their business-model experiment was. Which makes me wonder, how much did you pay?

And finally, drum roll please…enough about the guys in the music biz, who’s Guy-less now? Bah-dum-bumph…

…ahemA-Rodahem.
